Week Zero Sykes Player of the Week: Josh Jewell

Our Sykes Player of the Week stands just 5”9, but makes up for it with determination...to get to the ball.

Corbin junior wide out and defensive back, Josh Jewell checks in at just 140 pounds, but managed to haul in 17-catches last Friday versus George Rogers Clark totaling 167 yards and notching one touchdown in the 39-29 loss, tying Ryan Galas of North Oldham for second in the state record books for receptions in a single game.

Take a listen to our Sykes Player of the Week on his performance.

"No, not really. I mean I was just running my routes like I should and whenever he threw the ball just trying to catch it the best I could,” Jewell says. “I really wasn't thinking about how many catches I had at the time just trying to do what I could for the team. It means a lot to me I guess. I really, whenever I started playing high school I don't think I ever thought about whoever had the most catches in a game or anything like that. But now that I look at it, I guess it's a pretty good accomplishment."
