PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The UPike football team began spring practice Tuesday, and it also marked the beginning of a new era as they welcome in new defensive coordinator Brian Williams.
Williams played for Middlesboro before starring at Kentucky, and has coached at several universities across the country, and he says it is a blessing to finally come back home.
"It's been a blessing," says Williams. "It's something that I've strived for for the last three or four years and I've finally been given the opportunity to come home. I've been in the game 26 years and coached a lot places, and you start to realize that everyone around you is starting to get a little bit more mature and older, and you want to get home near family, so that was one of the main reasons to come home."
