PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) -- Pikeville’s Jasmine Wilson and Cassidy Coleman signed with the Morehead State cheerleading program Friday afternoon.
Wilson and Coleman join a program that has won 27 total national championships – 20 co-ed, seven all-female – and both are ecstatic to cheer at the next level.
“It means a lot because I have had a dream of cheering for Morehead since I have been in the sixth grade,” Wilson said. “And the fact that I have been able to accomplish one of my many goals, it feels great I guess. I'd like to know what it's like to have a family other than my friend, other than my regular family, a family with the cheerleading team, a family that I have a bond with -- with the same interest."
Coleman has a brother who will be a junior at MSU this fall so she’s comfortable with her choice and opportunity with the Eagles.
“I'm so excited. I waited for this my whole life. With Pikeville cheerleading, we always went and watched the Morehead State cheerleaders do a showcase and I always watched them,” Coleman said. “I was like, ‘Hopefully, I want to do that one day.’ I was like, ‘That's just amazing.’ It was a dream, and now that it has come true, I couldn't be more happy."
