DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.(WYMT) -- The Morehead State women's golf team, which fired a 294 on Sunday, leads the 18-team LPGA Xavier Invitational after 36 holes. The Eagles own a 596 heading into the final round at the Legends Golf Course after turning in the tournament's best single round.
Morehead State sophomore Anna Appert Lund, freshman Anna Magnusson and junior Vanessa Bognot are all in the top 10 of the 95-golfer field. Appert Lund posted a team-best 71 on Sunday and is knotted for sixth (148). Magnusson and Bognot are just one shot back in a tie for eighth.
Sophomore Katie Rice (152) is also in Morehead State's line-up, while senior Amalie Schott Munck (156) is playing as an individual for the Eagles. Sophomore Linnea Scholin, who registered a 75 in the opening round on Saturday, had to withdraw on Sunday due to illness.
Morehead State is five shots clear of Dayton State (601) and Mercer (601). The Eagles are also 14 strokes better than Stetson (610) and host Xavier (610) entering the final round.
Mercer senior Lacey Fears continues to lead the individual race with a two-round 142. The course plays at a par of 72 and yardage of 6,146. The final round is set for Monday.
