PIKEVILLE, Ky. – A senior from Mason County is the latest signee of the women’s basketball team at the University of Pikeville.
Courtney Moran, a 5-7 guard from Maysville has signed a scholarship to play basketball for UPIKE.
Moran averaged 9.5 points per game for the Royals last season, also pulling down five rebounds and dishing out four assists. She was a 40 percent shooter and hit 71 percent from the free throw line.
She helped the Lady Royals to the semifinals of the 10th Region tournament.
Moran scored a season-high of 21 points this season in games against Augusta and Scott. She started for three seasons at Mason County and was named First-Team All-Area by the Ledger Independent, was honorable mention All-10th Region and was selected to the all-tournament team in the 10th Region tournament.
Moran is very active on campus and is involved in such activities as Teens Against Tobacco Use, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Future Farmers of America and Future Career and Community Leaders. In addition, she has volunteered at the local extended care facility and Active Care Chiropractic, both in Maysville.
In addition, she works part-time at the Tom Browning Boys & Girls Club.
