The Morehead State women's basketball team will open the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) at Illinois State on Nov. 9. Tip off is set for 8 p.m. ET.
The Preseason WNIT, produced by Triple Crown Sports, includes 16 teams in a three-game guarantee format. The first-round winners will face off in the second round on Nov. 11 and the semifinals are set for Nov. 14. If the Eagles defeat ISU, they will face either Northern Illinois or Iowa.
First-round losers will be grouped into four-team pods based on geography, host availability and recent history of success. They will play consolation games at campus sites on Nov. 16-17. The consolation bracket will be released following all first-round games.
Illinois State has made six straight trips to the postseason, and returns four starters from a 19-13 team that finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Grambling, Kennesaw State, Memphis and Middle Tennessee are also on MSU's side of the WNIT bracket, while Davidson, Delaware, Duquesne, Georgetown, Liberty, North Carolina, Sacred Heart and Sam Houston are on the opposite side.
