Numerous football Patriots honored with MSC awards

Posted: 11/20/2013 - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) football program is having a season to remember. The Patriots have been perfect thus far this season as they finished the regular season 10-0 with a perfect 6-0 record in the conference. UC also won their 6th Mid-South Conference (MSC) Championship and their 5th under Head Coach John Bland. The #1 ranked Patriots will play host in the first round of the NAIA Football Championship Series (FCS) on Saturday. As they prepare for the game against Saint Ambrose (IA), the Mid-South Conference has announced its yearly awards as UC earned a plethora of honors.

Mendenhall of Urbana has been named Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year, defensive lineman Robert Hayes of Shepherd the Defensive Player of the Year and Shepherd head coach Monte Cater the Coach of the Year. In addition, running back Jabre Lolley of Shepherd has been named the Mountain East Conference Offensive Freshman of the Year, and Shepherd linebacker Octavius Thomas the Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Posted: 11/19/2013 - After opening the season with a pair of victories, the Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball team moved to No. 13 in the first official NABC/Division II Coaches Poll of the 2013-14 campaign, which was unveiled by officials with the National Association of Basketball Coaches on Tuesday. In the process, the Railsplitters extended their South Atlantic Conference record streak to 43-consecutive weeks ranked in the national poll, the third-longest active streak in the country trailing only West Liberty (WV) and Bellarmine (KY).
