Lady Railsplitters falter late; swept at Brevard

Posted: 04/10/2014 - A pair of late blunders proved costly for the Lady Railsplitters on Thursday in Brevard, North Carolina as the Brevard Tornados took advantage of Lincoln Memorial's miscues in a South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader sweep. The Lady Railsplitters suffered a 3-2 eight-inning loss in game one before Brevard rallied in the sixth inning in game two to take a 5-4 edge. Lincoln Memorial falls to 23-14 overall and 9-7 in SAC play after enduring its first league sweep this season.

The Patriots exploded for 25 runs in the two games on the day, coming away with a sweep of the Eagles by scores of 11-1 in game one and 14-9 in game 2.

Patriot softball splits with Campbellsville at home

Posted: 04/10/2014 - The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Patriot softball team was back on their home field on Wednesday as they prepared to take on Mid-South Conference (MSC) rival Campbellsville University (CU). This was a big day for UC as they were up against one of the best teams in their conference. The Patriots lived up to the challenge as they took the first game from the Tigers with a final score of 1-0. Unfortunately, the second game didn't go as well and UC would fall to Campbellsville 11-1. The Patriot ladies now stand with an 11-18 overall record and 8-8 in MSC play.
