BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union baseball team receive a great game out of its battery mates as the Bulldogs blanked St. Andrews 5-0 on Sunday to win the Appalachian Athletic Conference series two games to one.
The victory improves Union to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in league play, while St. Andrews falls to 11-7 overall and 2-4 in the AAC
On the mound, Nelson Price (Burkesville, Ky.) and Justin King (Barbourville, Ky.) combined to toss a three-hit shutout. Price allowed two hits and four walks and struck out three in seven innings of work, upping his record to 2-3. King pitched the final two frames, giving up one hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Taking the loss for the Knights was Joe McCarty, who surrendered three runs, two earned, on seven hits and one walk with one strikeout. He drops to 4-2 on the year.
Price's and King's battery mate Zach Dillman (Cincinnati, Ohio) came up big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
