Wise, Va. - The UVa-Wise men’s basketball overcame a nine point halftime deficit to post its sixth consecutive victory with a 68-61 win over St. Catharine College at the Prior Center. Javon Moore scored 22 points, grabbed, 11 rebounds, and claimed five steals as he led all scorers.
In addition to Moore, Deon Boyce recorded a double-double with ten points and 18 rebounds. Point guard Darius Smith had one of the finer games of his career with nine points and eight assists. Sixth man James Turner also chipped in 12 points and five rebounds for the Cavs.
In total, UVa-Wise scored 35 points off the bench to outscore St. Catharine by 21 in that category. The Patriots also turned the ball over 22 times while also being out-rebounded 52-36.
Arthur McMillian led St. Catharine with 12 points and Omar Skinner scored 11 points in the loss.
With the win, UVa-Wise improves to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the Mid-South. The team will wrap up its four game home stand on Monday when Georgetown College visits the Prior Center for 6:00 p.m. tip.
