Cavalier women drop exhibition to Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Host Campbell University scored a 64-47 victory over UVa-Wise in exhibition action on Wednesday. The NCAA Division I Fighting Camels out-rebounded the Cavaliers 55-35 en route to 15 more shot attempts and the victory.

UVa-Wise was led by Makenzie Cluesman who scored 20 points on 5-16 shooting. The Jonesville, Va. native made 8-10 foul shots and also grabbed four rebounds in the contest. No other Cavalier reached double figures in the loss.

Campbell’s Kiera Gaines scored 11 points and collected a game-high 18 rebounds while also handing out seven assists and blocking three shots. Summer Leverette added 11 points off the bench in the victory as the Camels out-scored the Cavs 28-10 in bench points.

UVa-Wise will return to regular season play on January 5th when the club travels to Wheeling Jesuit for a Mountain East game.
