EASTERN Ky. (WYMT) - The Allen Central Rebels are up next in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off series.
After finishing last season 15-15 under first year head coach Brad Short, the Rebels have higher expectation. With a guard heavy roster, they look to live up to their patented nickname, the "Running Rebs".
"What we want to do, is concentrate on playing the best basketball we can play", said head coach Brad Short. "Playing harder than anyone we can play, and playing better than anyone we can play. And if we do that, we are going to be successful."
"We are looking to come out and win plenty of ball games this year. I know we are ranked lower in region. But, we are going to come out and definitely shock the people that Is watching us", said forward Cameron Hamilton.
"It is going to be winning and learning, not winning and losing. Just like Coach Calipari says, we want, as the season goes on, we want to learn more", said guard Junior Handshoe. "And then, instead of losing, we want to learn, when we lose. We want to learn from that and keep on going as a team, and hopefully, what we learned from last year will carry on to this year."
"Get to regionals, win actually, first playoff game. Just work hard", said Josh Wiley.
"It's going to be wide open like Junior said. Everyone looks like they have evened out this year. Everyone lost all of their seniors, so it is going to be a clean slate this year", said guard Eli Conley.
The DQ Grill and Chill Roundball preview show with air on Thursday, November 29th from 7-8pm on WYMT. That is when we will announce the initial Alice Lloyd College Mountain Top Ten for the both the boys and the girls.
