HYDEN Ky. (WYMT) - The next team up in our DQ Grill and Chill countdown to tip off preview, the Leslie County Eagles.
The Eagles finished the year with a 7-16 record and fell to Hazard in the first round of the 54th district tournament. With a new head coach and new system, getting back to the regional tournament is something they are striving for.
"I have been blessed with a really good group of seniors, who have worked their tails off everyday for me", said head coach Daniel Day. "So that has been one extreme positive coming in as a first year coach. Not having to coach effort. If you don't have to coach effort, that is a great thing to build off of."
"We are pretty quick, we can shoot the ball well. We are pretty good on defense", said senior guard Cody Sizemore.
"We don't have much experience back. We have a lot of young centers and stuff that will have to step up and play a big part of this team", said senior guard Blake Bray.
"I feel like we are a lot better than what teams around here think. And we will probably prove it", said senior guard Jacob Eldridge.
"Everyone is just pushing everyone else to go hard", said senior guard Arlin Couch. "We all push each other, and that just makes me ready to play with them and hyped for the season."
