PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) -- Pikeville Panther running back Daric Pugh had a monster night on the ground Saturday as the junior scored more points than the entire Hazard team.
"I stayed up until about six o'clock last night -- couldn't go to sleep,” Pugh said. “Last night was by far the best game I ever had, but that win last week against Prestonsburg, that was really emotional, that was a good win for our team and last night was a great win for our team too.”
With Pugh’s 329 rushing yards, Pikeville (2-0) cruised to a 49-36 win over Hazard (0-1).
Pugh rushed for seven touchdowns – that's one shy of tying a state record – on 31 carries.
“I just want to think my O-line again,” Pugh said. “I can't give them enough praise for last night. They really wore down their D-line and our isos worked great all night and we just kept running them."
