MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State senior Donte Sawyer has been tabbed as a Third-Team Football Championship Subdivision All-American by Beyond Sports College Network.
Sawyer, a native of Acworth, Ga., set Morehead State career records for receptions (199), receiving yards (2,555) and receiving touchdowns (24). He also set the school’s single-season standard for receptions (81) and receiving yards (1,024) this past year.
Sawyer, a wide receiver and kick-return specialist, led the Pioneer Football League in receptions per game (7.4) and all-purpose yards per contest (159.0) in 2012. He also ranked second in receiving yards per affair (93.1) and yardage per kick return (26.2).
A Preseason All-PFL choice by three media outlets and Preseason All-American by BSCN, Sawyer earned eight different weekly awards throughout his final campaign. He posted two kick returns for touchdowns and earned national recognition each time.
