LEXINGTON, Ky. If you follow John Calipari, Matthew Mitchell, or any of the Kentucky coaches on Twitter, or even if you have heard them speak, you know they are all supportive of one another.
Whether it's football, basketball, softball, or soccer, they all want UK athletics to succeed, not just their respective team, and it is definitely a unique relationship that started just a few short years ago.
"I'm all about positive energy, and I think for (the UK Hoops team) it started when John Calipari came to Kentucky," says Kentucky women's basketball coach Matthew Mitchell. "For me, he was so energetic and he was so inspiring, and i think that it starts there. Certainly football, the atmosphere that existed when coach (Rich) Brooks was here. Commonwealth (Stadium) is such an exciting place when it's rocking and rolling, so I think it just goes back to the passion of the fans."
"I just think (all the coaches) get along," adds John Calipari, men's basketball coach at Kentucky. "We all support each other. The one thing you have to understand is I can look at all these coaches and know what they're going through. They can look at me and know what I'm going through. It's hard unless you're Joe B. Hall or one of the former football or women's (basketball) coaches to know what we're going through. I think we really do a good job, all of us, of supporting the others."
