Barbourville, Kentucky (WYMT) -- The Union Bulldogs (0-1) gave a 50-cent piece effort in their season-opening loss to the Cumberlands. They want give a dollar this time.
Tied 21-all at half, the ‘Dogs didn't score a point in the second half, losing to UC 52-21.
"Compared to what we saw against Cumberlands and now what we are going to see against Faulkner, it's night and day,” Union head coach Tommy Reid said Thursday at practice.
“The Cumberlands, they are going to run the football and they're really good at it. Faulkner is just the opposite. They are going to throw it 50 times a game, try to run 80 plays and they are really good at what they do, so we really just picked up the tempo in practice.”
Union will kick it off Saturday at noon against the Eagles.
“[To prepare,] we've had two teams of offense,” Reid said. “One group runs a play versus the defense and the defense has to come right back and get lined up to the next group of offense -- and that's just hard to prepare for."
