BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union saw its win streak come to an end at four games as host and 21st-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan pulled out the 67-62 Appalachian Athletic Conference victory on Saturday.
The loss drops Union to 15-7 overall and 11-3 in AAC play, while Tennessee Wesleyan improves to 16-3 overall and 13-2 in the league.
Tied at 29-all at the half, Tennessee Wesleyan managed to build a 48-38 lead with 11:05 remaining thanks to a 19-9 stretch. Union rallied to even the score at 58-all on a Haley Perkins 3-pointer with 3:14 to play. However, Union was not able to reclaim the lead as Tennessee Wesleyan hit 9-of-14 free throws down the stretch to escape with the 67-62 decision.
Amber Taylor led Union with 19 points, while Perkins had 16 and Lydia Nash netted 14.
Cody Houck paced Tennessee Wesleyan with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Armeka Booker followed with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
