ROCK HILL, SC - Lincoln Memorial University senior forward Vincent Bailey (Jennings, FL) has been named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Bailey is the second-consecutive member of the men's basketball team to garner SAC Player of the Week laurels, as redshirt-freshman Luquon Choice (Laurens, SC) earned that distinction back on December 16.
Bailey captured the conference's weekly athletic honor after leading the 18th-ranked Railsplitters (9-1, 5-1 SAC) to their fifth-straight victory on Saturday night at Tex Turner Arena. The Jennings, Florida native was the catalyst for an 84-60 South Atlantic Conference triumph over the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears, as he matched a game-high mark with 20 points on eight-for-11 shooting while corralling 11 rebounds, finishing with his fourth double-double of the season. Bailey also went four-for-six from the free throw line and accumulated a career-high four assists in 29 minutes of action.
The 6-6 senior forward currently leads the South Atlantic Conference in field goals (82), while ranking second in the league in rebounds per game (9.5), third in field-goal percentage (65.6) and third in points per game (20.7). He is tops among all South Atlantic Conference players in points per 40 minutes with 28.6.
Bailey has tallied double-digit points in 22-straight games dating back to February 9, 2013 with 10 20-point games over that stretch (seven during 2013-14 season). This season, Bailey has amassed nine or more rebounds six times including a dominant 17-rebound outing at Newberry.
The Railsplitters are scheduled for a pair of tough South Atlantic Conference match-ups this week, traveling to Anderson on Wednesday, January 8 before returning to Tex Turner Arena to host Wingate on Saturday, January 11. Both of those contests are set to tip-off at 8 p.m.
