Wide receivers a concern for UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. Mark Stoops is definitely creating a new level of excitement around the Kentucky football program with next year's recruiting class, but what about this year.

The Wildcats have statistically the toughest schedule in the country this season, and return only four scholarship wide receivers, and that's definitely an area that the coaches are concerned with moving forward.

"Yeah, we are thin at wide receiver, and we need to recruit, and we need to develop our players a little bit better, and we need to improve in the skill areas that's for sure," says Stoops, entering his first year as head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. "The offense that we want to run, we need to improve our receiving corps, so that will be a real challenge, but there's a lot of things. Our league is good top to bottom. It's good at every position, so we need to improve in each and every area of our team."

Stoops' first year on the sideline may be a struggle but 2014 looks, at least on paper to be much better. According to Rivals.com, Kentucky has the number one ranked recruiting class in the class of 2014, ahead of traditional powers such as Ohio State, Texas, and Alabama. The class could get even better with the announcement of three star wide receiver Trey Williams expected within the next few days. Kentucky is one of five schools on Williams' final list.
