Women's basketball hosts Ohio Saturday Night

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The Morehead State women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column Saturday when it hosts Ohio at 7 p.m. ET.

The Eagles started 2-0 before a seven-point home loss to George Mason Tuesday. Ohio has played just once this year, defeating Xavier, 94-88. MSU leads the all-time series, 7-3, but the Bobcats claimed a 79-72 overtime decision in Athens last season.

Tickets are available by clicking here. Parking is free. The game will conclude an MSU tripleheader Saturday. Football hosts Butler at 1 p.m., and volleyball wraps up its regular season against Austin Peay at 5 p.m.

Last Time Out
Terrice Robinson scored a game-high 25 points, but visiting George Mason rallied from an early 9-0 deficit to upend MSU 74-67 on Tuesday. Almesha Jones recorded her second straight double-double with 11 points and a career-high 10 assists. Freshman forward Shay Steele had her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Closing it out
Morehead State trailed Lipscomb 45-29 with 17 minutes to go last Sunday but rallied to take a late lead and then won in overtime by converting 8-of-10 free throws. Prior to the win, MSU had lost its last seven overtime games dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Preseason Accolades
Almesha Jones and Terrice Robinson were both named to the official Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference Team. Robinson was also named Preseason Second-Team All-OVC by College Sports Madness.

Mrs. Robinson
Terrice Robinson leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 27.3 points per game. Robinson now has three career 30-point games, including her career-high of 39 last year versus Ohio and 38 this season at Lipscomb.

Making Them Count
Several current players have tallied efficient numbers at the free throw line throughout their careers. Senior guard Allie Turner tops the list at 82 percent. Terrice Robinson has 78 percent, while junior forward Casey Ryans has nailed 75 percent. Almesha Jones has drained 71 percent in her first three seasons.

Wouldn't It Be Grand
Terrice Robinson is on pace to reach 1,000 career points this season. She currently has 747 career tallies. In her first two seasons, Robinson netted just 141 points before breaking out for 524 last year, a figure which ranked as the eighth-best single-season total in program history.

Keeping Up With Jones
Almesha Jones has notched two straight double-doubles of different varieties. She had 13 points and 10 rebounds at Lipscomb and recorded 11 points and a career-best 10 assists against Lipscomb. She needs just 10 more handouts to reach 200 career assists.

Moving Up the Chart
Allie Turner ranks ninth in program history with 125 career three-pointers. She needs just 39 more to make her way into the top five.

Out of the Way, Here Comes Shay
In addition to her first career double-double, Shay Steele also recorded four blocks against George Mason. She leads the team with six blocks so far.

Swat City
MSU is averaging 5.7 blocked shots per game in its first three contests. In contrast, the Eagles only tallied 1.9 blocks per game last season.
