MOORE, Okla. (WKYT) - Brad Smith is a deacon at Moreland Christian Church. It didn’t take long for the devastation to pull on his heart strings….and prompt him to take action.

“You can set up and cook and provide a good meal to people. That seams to go a long way,” said Smith.

They hauled a grill and trailer from Lincoln County….and set it up right in the middle of a mile wide path of destruction.

“Just trying to touch the people. Let them know regardless of how bad the disaster is, God cares about them. We’re willing to come help them,” he said.

Many teenagers would want to spend the first of their summer break playing video games or going to the pool….others want to serve

“This is actually kind of fun for me. Going and helping people. Going to amusement parks, that’s fun, but this is fun. I like bringing joy to people,” said Ethan Smith, a high school student who went on the trip.

Within 2 days they fed 700 people. But they believe the residents of Moore took in much more than food and drink.

“Makes me feel like I am actually making a difference,” said Ethan.
“You know give them a hug and pray with them, give them a meal.
Especially when they find out you drove 13 to 14 hours just to be with them,” said Brad Smith.

The group has since returned home but they say they their prayers for Moore….will continue.
