A truckload of help was sent from another union Friday to support the nurses on strike now for more than a month. Union nurses from several ARH hospitals got to pick up groceries in Hazard while on the picket line. It's relief that many say they need.

They're taking a break from the picket line for a grocery line.

Ten thousand dollars worth of free food was shipped from Louisville to Hazard from the AFL-CIO union to nurses on strike with KNA.

"It comes at a good time because this is a month into the strike, so you know, our cubbards are starting to get a little bare," said Kathy Ford.

"Me and my wife both are RN's here and we're both out of work, living off of what savings we had. We just trust in God right now," said Roger Eversole.

Union nurses from surrounding ARH hospitals made the trip for free food but the truck doesn't stop here. It will travel through Kentucky and West Virginia to make sure all the nurses on strike get some help.

"In this case, we figure it's such an important strike that we're not going to let these nurses suffer any more. We're going to do everything we can to help them survive," said AFL-CIO President Bill Londrigan.

Union members from South Williamson say the encouragement from fellow unions is just as important as what is in the bags.

"It give you so much more strength to take back home and to pass that on to our line and help our people to become stronger," Ford said.

The AFL-CIO also donated ten thousand dollars to the KNA strike fund.

I thnk that it is great that the other unions are supporting the KNA. We need to support the KNA. Better care hast to be give to the patient in ARH hospital. My family is very important to me and I know personally that I stay with my family when they are in the hospitla becasue of short staffing. PLEASE - COMMUNITY GET BEHIND THESE NURSES IN THERE FIGHT FOR YOUR COMMUNITY, FOR YOUR FAMILYS.

I would like to thank the AFL-CIO for their help. Also I would like to thank WYMT for the coverage of the story. The KNA has several Unions supporting them from all over the USA and we greatly THANK YOU.
