LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Longtime state Sen. David Boswell said
Thursday that he's running for the congressional seat held by
Republican Ron Lewis.
Boswell said that voters' concerns about the economy and Iraq
war make this the right time to challenge Lewis, who has
represented the 2nd District in central and western Kentucky since
1994.
The 58-year-old Boswell is an Owensboro Democrat in his fifth
term in the state Senate. He also served in the Kentucky House and
spent a term as Kentucky's agriculture commissioner in the 1980s.
Boswell isn't the only Daviess County Democrat considering a run
for Congress this year. Judge-Executive Reid Haire says he hasn't
decided whether to seek his party's nomination in the 2nd District.
