A missing 61-year old woman from North Carolina is dead, and two others are in the hospital following a late night crash in Pike County.

Police say Betty Joe Randolph was driving the wrong way on US-23 near Dorton, and hit another car head on.

State police say Randolph died at the scene, and the driver of the other car, Suzette Johnson and her passenger Quiton Johnson, were taken to a West Virginia hospital where they are recovering.

Police say they do not know why Randolph was driving the wrong way.

I was on my way home from work last night when i was nearly hit by this woman. I went completely off the road to dodge her and when i looked in my rearview mirror i watched her hit the car behind me head on. My heart & prayers goes out to the families of these victims.

I just found out about this today, Betty was my sister's boyfriends grandmother and a really nice lady, she welcomed my sister my daughter and I into her home when we went to visit lake lure. My prayers are with this family, and if they needed anything they know where to find me. I hope the other victims are ok, and understand what happened on this sad day.

I feel bad for the lady's family. She nearly hit me as I was on my way home from work. Travelling at those speeds would have made surviving any kind of impact nearly impossible
