Animal abuse and neglect are problems officials say are getting worse every day. One London woman unexpectedly found herself right in the middle of the issue after her missing dog led her to many more.

Friday afternoon, Tiffany Stiles dog went missing. Stiles immediately began searching for her light brown one year old Basset Hound. Stiles still has not found her dog. Instead she found more than what she bargained for. Stiles found more than 20 dogs starving to death at an apparent abandoned home five miles from her home on White Oak Road in London.

"They grow up to be part of your family. Someone would do this, it makes me wonder how do they take care of themselves how do they take care of their kids. Do they just drop them off and do they not feed them or do they let them run around the house? It's ridiculous," she said.

Angry and disappointed that someone would neglect this many dogs, Stiles started feeding them.

"I have probably 20 calls a day on stray animals that's been dumped out on the side of the road and it's just overwhelming. We can't even answer those calls," said Carl Bolton, Knox County Animal Control Officer.

Bolton says from horses to dogs, animal abuse is on the rise and things will probably only get worse. Bolton says what Stiles found is becoming all too common.

"Stuff like this is senseless. There's no need for it and it seems to be growing," Bolton said.

Stiles says she is still looking for her Basset Hound. She has offered a $100 dollar reward for anyone who finds her dog. In the meantime, she plans to do whatever she help those abused dogs get better.

My god what is wrong with people ive read comments on here and seems like the people that cares for people get brought down!IF youve really read these peoples comments seems like they have animals theirselfs. But to want more done for needy people or children an you get people all tore up . And the people youre condeming do comment on other things IVE read them MYSELF.Seems they care more about people an helping them. But everybody is ready to make people guilty till proven innocent. And by the way theres a lot of people tired of you all complaning but you overlook those dont you? YOURE SO CONCERNED over such things go adopt them yourselfs. But that would take your precious money woulnt it?Seems like to me theres more out there than them that needs to get a life! At least theses people are concerned over what matters.AND THEY ARE TRYING TO GET PEOPLE to see that theres more going on out there thats worse than this animal abuse. Seems like people abuse should be more important

bla bla bla, the name seems to be very fitting. first of all, you should not try to tell people where to put their heart, god does that, I admire anyone who cares for gods creatures, you should not assume that these people who care for animals and try to help them do not care for children and if you do not care why do you bother to read these stories and comment on them, seems to me you should be spending your time working for something that you believe in, I see this bla bla bla on every story that is done about animal abuse, you seem to me as just a whiner. get a life!

lone wolf, needy folks can usually work if they want and will and are not to lazy----dogs depend on their negligent owners

(edited) the big money people donate it to all the animal shelters but talk is cheap isnt it if people are so concerned then take money from your familes and donate it eather put up or shut up an do your part whinning an gripping gets nothing done by the way i love my dog my horses an other live stock and they are well fed but if it came down to it i will sell them or shoot them im not low enough to let them starve but it would be a cold day in hell before my family would do without they come first maybe its the same with theses people family first beast last GODSPEED WE ARE ALL GOD CHILDREN not his livestock

To Blah, blah, blah aren't you feeding your kids? If not, there's Social Services, Charity kitchens, your local churches, or most of the time: the neighbors and relatives. Tkoo bad they don't have food stamps for the animals.

Pass a law, enforce that law and send them all to jail. They would rather buy 4-wheelers that feed the animals.
