Some eastern Kentucky college students had the opportunity to hear what each presidential candidate had to say about many issues that will impact their future.

The three candidates themselves weren't present.

They each had representatives.

They talked about everything from gas prices, to taxes, to healthcare and education.

Representatives for each presidential candidate squared off on issues and tried to win votes in a room full of college students.

For many, this is their first time voting for president.

“It just makes it all the more interesting and investing time to see how different the three candidates are,” Justin Chaffin said.

“Important for students to be able to judge not just the viewpoint of one candidate, but see those viewpoints compared with one another,” Dr. Tom Matijasic said.

All three say their candidate wants to create new jobs, make college tuition more affordable, and improve healthcare. They had different ideas to pull the nation out of a potential recession.

“Senator McCain has promised to lower taxes and he's gonna make it harder for taxes to be raised by congress,” Mike Duncan, Senator John McCain’s Representative.

“Senator Clinton wants to tax the wealthy and give back to the middle class,” Jerry Lundergan, Senator Hillary Clinton’s representative.

“He proposes a tax cut that will provide relief to 95 percent of working Americans,” Ruth Ann Palumbo, Senator Barack Obama’s representative.

Each offered relief for high gas prices.

Duncan says Senator McCain wants a "tax free gas" day in the summer.

The Democrats said they would go after oil companies.

All three said their candidate plans to create new forms of renewable energy and clean coal technology.

Senator McCain wants troops to stay in Iraq while Senators Clinton and Obama have plans to end the war.

These new voters say this helps them cast their ballot.
