The warm weather in May generally means more riders out on their motorcycles which is why May is Motorcycle Awareness Month.

The focus for the month is to get everyone on the road pay attention to motorcyclists. Officials with the American Motorcyclist Association want drivers to keep an eye out for motorcycles at all times.

"A motorcycle does have a lot less area to see first of all and sometimes they're running faster than they look," said Chris Smith, General Manager of Andy's Cycle Sales.

Smith says they recommend safety training courses for new riders so they can be prepared for hazards while riding.

according to data from the DMV in Frankfort most accidents and deaths are truly nothing to do with motorcycle laws it has to do with negligent auto operators who are either careless, blind, stupid or far to old to drive. One good solution would be to require drivers over 65 to re-test each year.
