An investigation is underway into the death of an inmate at the Whitley County Detention Center.

The coroner says 34 year old Ralph Martin Terry of Jellico Tennessee was booked around five o'clock Friday night. Terry was found unresponsive in his cell about five hours later during a routine check.

His body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

Kentucky State Police and the Williamsburg Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
