Kentucky State Police is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Kentucky 1690 and Kentucky 645 in Lawrence County Tuesday afternoon.

A woman turning onto Kentucky 645 from Kentucky 1690 pulled into the path of a coal truck loaded with 125,000 pounds of coal. Kentucky 645 was closed for nearly two hours as a result of coal being spilled onto the highway.

The driver of the coal truck, James Scott of Fallsburg, KY suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.

Travis Hughes of Louisa, the passenger in the coal truck, along with the unidentified driver and passenger of the car were flown to St. Mary’s Hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.
