State officials say we may never know what a white, powdery substance was that sparked a scare Tuesday at an Eastern Kentucky prison.

Federal and state officials swarmed the U.S. Penitentiary in McCreary County after someone in the mailroom found the substance in an envelope mailed to a former inmate. They had feared it might be ricin, but detailed testing showed it was not a hazardous substance.

Twelve employees were treated at the scene for possible contamination. Two were admitted to a local hospital, but have since been released.

I been working for the federal prison system for many years even if it was riccin they would not tell the public and they would hide it and try to cover it up!
