A child's search for his lost toy leads him to a hidden danger in the woods near his home.

It was a day of searching. First, a report of a marijuana patch in the backwoods of McKee and later, a boy's search for his missing remote control airplane turned up much more.

"This is your trash from making meth," said Jackson County Sheriff Tim Fee.

Fee says the chemicals in here, could create an explosion big enough to bring down part of a house and someone dumped them just off the road after they'd finished cooking meth.

"It's ridiculous. There's kids live here, an elderly man lives right there, and there's more kids live over the hill," said Billy Issacs.

"Naturally when they find this stuff, curiosity’s going to kick in. They'll want to figure out what it is. They go to handle it, open it up, smell it, I mean it's real dangerous," Fee said.

The sheriff takes times to satisfy their curiosity, hoping the lesson will protect them later.

"If you find any more, whatever you do, don't touch it," Fee told the children.

Sheriff Fee patrols the roads of Jackson County by himself at least three days a week, but he says the dangers drug users leave behind scare him much more than waiting for back-up. Fee says it's difficult to lift fingerprints from meth cooking trash, because it's often covered with chemicals.
