After battling their way through this year's General Assembly, several new laws will soon go into effect.

61 Senate bills and 120 House bills made it though this year's session and most of them go on the books starting July 15th. Some of the new laws include stiffer penalties for people who sexually abuse children or abuse animals, ways for gas station owners to force drive-off thieves to pay up without going to court, and possible felony arrests for anyone who leaves the scene of a serious car accident.

there is alot of animal cruelty in leslie county with no one to report it to, or no one that cares. i wish someone that had some power to stop it would investigate. all you have to do is drive around and you see dogs chained 24/7 with little or no shelter nor food and water. what little water you do see has mold and worms swimming in it. the hurts creek area and wooten areas are some of the worst. dogs are chained up 24/7 under cliffs “large rocks”, or on hillsides. some are covered with mange and fleas. the owners do not care, i’ve heard people say “its just the way things are around here. the owners never pet or love on them or show them any affection. they are just doomed to a life they do not deserve. i am only one person and if i speak up and people know its me, then they will probably seek revenge, “it’s the way they do in leslie county…burn you house down or shoot you or a member of your family”. please, someone out there help these poor defenseless animals.

If you are a law breaker and cant behave why dont you just stay home. It is a shame we need some of the laws, but some people just cant do good, all they know how to do bad.

Maybe our legislators salary needs to be reviewed! Also they should have the same retirement plan as most of us (Social Security. We all know that they are over paid. But still we continue to allow people like Mitch McConnell whom does nothing for the people of this state and continues to support a failed President Bush pass worthless laws. Hello!!!

More laws,More laws.We can't cross the street now without breaking some law.The only way in Kentucky to avoid being a crimial is to stay home in a dark room with guards.

That's just what we need. More stupid laws that we don't even know that we are breaking. I wish our legislators would quit try to legislate common sense. I guess they just need something to do in a feeble attempt to justify their high salary.
