One lawmaker says new federal regulations aimed at strengthening seals in coal mines are not good enough.

The Louisville Courier-Journal reports Representative George Miller, the Chairman of the House Committee over Mine Safety, says he's written U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao to express concerns over MSHA regulations. The California Democrat says the 2006 law enacted to require explosion proof seals in mines does not cover existing seals. MSHA's new regulations issued in April would only apply to seals built on or before October 20th of this year.
