Two people are dead after a fire ripped through their eastern Kentucky home.

The fire broke out in a home on Lodge Hall Road off Highway 421 outside McKee early Thursday morning.

Two people were inside the home when the fire broke out. By the time firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed.

Family members tell us 79-year-old Geraldine Lunsford died at the scene.

77-year-old Riccie Goble was airlifted to UK Hospital with serious burns but later died from those injuries.

Fire departments from Madison County were also called in to help Jackson County firefighters.

Witnesses report hearing explosions during the fire.
