Police are investigating a deadly accident in Harlan County.

It happened on U.S. 119 in the Keith community.

Police say 30 year old Amanda Rice was driving north on U.S. 119 when she hit a car that was attempting to make a left turn. Police say she lost control, went into the south bound lane and hit a tractor trailer head on.

Police say Rice was not wearing a seat belt. She died at the scene.

DOES THE PEOPLE THAT ATTEND THE CORNERSTONE CHURCH IN BAXTER KY REALIZE WHAT KIND OF LIFE AMANDA AND HER CHILDREN LIVED? SOMETIMES THE DEVIL CAN COME IN ALL FORMS. HE CAN PLAY THE PART OF THE SWEET, KIND, LOVING AND WIDOWED HUSBAND. PLEASE SPEAK TO THE CHILDREN AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY HAVE SEEN.

Some of you are so right, this was a tragic accident and weneed to remember all of the families involved. My thoughts and prayers are with both of the truck drivers.And their families. I pray this never happens again on this road and the state will do something about it.God Bless to each and everyone involved.

My sister and Amanda were very close. I know that Amanda is in a better place now. She lived in a world of being scared and did'nt know one day to the next if she was going to be alive to see her children grow up. Only those very close to her understand her situation. I would just like to know why the father was not home that morning (does'nt work) to leave a 1 year old and a 3 year old home alone. Why was'nt the children take from the home??? What happened to protecting our children, our FUTURE!!!!. Now that Amanda is gone what is going to happen to them? Our Social Services Agency needs to find out what is really going on in that home. People close to Amanda only know the true story. God bless you Amanda and I pray for your children everyday.

i was one of her patience that night and morning. she was allways nice to me.she will be missed at knox county hopstail.they told me that bad weark. i was up set.she told me that morning she was going home after she give me my med`s.my heart goes out to all family. god has amanda in his hands.

To Jason Hill & Mason Wagers: We know you are not to blame. 119 is a bad road itself, not to mention the fog and high speed. Things happen for a reason. God was watching over Amanda and her kids that day. Only people closest to her knows what that means. All we ask is that everybody prays that God will watch over and protect her children. Amanda is safe now.

neither of the other drivers should carry this on their hearts. god knew what he was doing that day. god took amanda for a reason and her close friends know why.

the loss for this family is horrible but does anyone think about hte coal truck driver how is the driver doing and how does he fell. i,m sure it wasn,t in his plan to hit and kill a mother that morning. i drive every morning in the fog from work and the drivers just aren't caution enoughmost of them don,t turn on lights or use signals to turn. i hope the 18 wheeler driver doen't get a lot of grief over this.

Amanda was a wonderful woman. She was a mother who loved her children so very much. She worked hard as a nurse to support her family. She will be truly missed. May God's mercy and peace be with her children, husband, and family.

My brother was in the Chevrolet truck and was waiting for traffic to clear so he could make a left turn onto Shoemaker Hollow. She tried to miss him but she couldn't. It was also very foggy which only made matters worse. This is a terrible tragic accident and my family is devastated and heart broken. We will be praying for all families involved. Please remember all of these families in your prayers as well. Thank you.

a family member of mine worked with Amanda, and I know that she will be missed by her. I just want eveyone to keep in their hearts and prayers the 3 little children that have lost their Mommy. She was a very special person and a very hard worker that will be remembered FOREVER.

My brother, Jason W. Hill, who is also 30 years old, is the one who was attempting to make the left turn when she hit him. I do not know the name of the coal truck driver only that he was from Barbourville. My brother, as well as myself and the rest of my family, are devastated by this tragic accident. We are praying for the family of Amanda Rice. Please say a prayer for my family as well. Thank you.

I came up on the accident this morning and had to turn around and go onto 840 into Loyall. It was so foggy out this morning that seeing too far ahead was totally out of the question. I'm not sure what happened, but I can imagine. This hasnt really been the best summer for Harlan with all the accidents and deaths from these accidents.

This is the same place where my brother wrecked in July. It was a very very bad wreck. I hope God is with these people like he was with Kyle and the others involved in his wreck.
