It's a place where locals gather in Corbin, but it's famous for the chili dog.

Open for around 80 years, the Dixie Restaurant is a staple in downtown Corbin.

It offers just about everything you could possibly crave.

“We have a lot of country cooking. We have hotdogs, hamburgers, homemade chicken salad, homemade desserts. We wing it a lot of times and have meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, or fried chicken. A lot of country cooking,” Marsha Trosper said.

The most popular item on the menu is the Dixie Dog with its famous chili recipe passed down from generations.

Trosper says the recipe is often imitated, but never duplicated. The chili is so popular, orders come in from across the country..

“I ship it to a lot of different places. I sent it to Colorado, California, people call in and ask me to send it to them and I mail it. A lot of times, shipping is more than the chili, but they are willing to pay that,” Trosper said.

Trosper says that she owes the restaurants success to the faithful customers that stop by on nearly every day.

Trosper says she hopes the Dixie Restaurant will be around for many years to come..

“It’s just a tradition that has been in Corbin for 80 years and I hope to continue to tradition,” Trosper said.

An interesting story because the Dixie closed years ago. I was there the day before it was to be locked up. I would like to "Know The Rest of the Story."
