The healing begins for an Eastern Kentucky family and an entire community. The visitation was held Wednesday for a Breathitt County dentist, Dr. John Combs. He died in a crash earlier this week along KY 1110 in Haddix.

It was evident that doctor combs touched so many lives in such a short amount of time.

A line of people wrapped around the Breathitt Funeral Home Wednesday night to say goodbye to a man respected by so many.

"He's the kind of son that anybody would be proud of. He's bright and handsome and he's just really going to be missed in this community," said Combs family friend Doug Allen.

Allen says he knew the 32-year-old Combs since birth. He watched Combs grow from a standout on the Breathitt County basketball team, to a professional. But there's one thing he'll remember most.

"That big smile and just such a pleasure to be around," added Allen.

Friends say Combs, who loved sports, never missed a local athletic event and would do anything to help his community. Miranda Wooton, who went to high school and college with Combs says he was an even greater friend.

"He was infectious. If you didn't know him, you wanted to and if you did know him you were destined to love him," said Wooton.

His family knew something was wrong when they lost contact with Combs Saturday night. Their search ended Monday with the unthinkable.

"We're really just numb. It's hard to lose someone like John. He was so young and so well liked it just makes it a little unbelievable," added Wooton.

The funeral for Dr. Combs begins Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Breathitt Funeral Home Chapel.

John and I grew up together, and he was the nicest and most genuine person I have met to this date. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

John will never be forgotten by those that knew him. I never saw him without that smile on his face. To know him was to love him. Thats just the way John was and never ever hurt a single soul. No one has ever touched so many lives in such a positive way & he had so many friends. He was so special and will forever be in my heart nor will I ever forget him. Healing will be a long time coming but I know he is watching us from Heaven. God speed John. I will always remember and love you.
