A black pickup truck could be the key to finding a man police say tried to kidnap an eastern Kentucky woman.
Police hope someone driving by the incident on Highway 80 will come forward with information.

It happened last Sunday morning near the Knott County Sportsplex.
The victim describes the attack in hopes of helping police make an arrest.

She doesn't want the man who police say attacked her to see her face again or know her name.

"It's been hard to deal with. I can't sleep at night," she says through tears.

After one week of questioning people at nearby gas stations, police are no closer to catching the man who they say tried to force the woman into his black pickup truck after her car overheated.

"He had a gun in my side. He said get in my truck, or i'll shoot you right here," she says.

She fought back and ran towards traffic, scaring off her attacker.

"I knew in my heart that if he got me in his truck, and got away with me ... that he was going to kill me, he wasn't going to let me go."

Police say following her instincts may have saved her life. They hope the attempted abduction serves as a reminder to call 9-1-1 any time you're stranded with car trouble. It works even from a cell phone that's not activated.

Tony Watts, public information officer for Kentucky State Police, says, "Whether you're the person needing aid, or whether you're the person rendering aid, make sure you know your circumstances before you go into that."

Police say finding the man's truck could be their only shot at catching him.

The alleged victim has a message for her attacker: "I know who you are, and I know what you look like, and they're going to catch you, and when they do I'm going to identify you."

Police are trying to get a composite sketch of the suspect.
They say his truck is a newer model black 4-door, with a 'Git-R-Done' bumper sticker on the rear driver's side.
