About 20 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto a busy Kentucky highway after the driver of a tractor trailer lost control in Knott County.

It happened Friday afternoon off Highway 1-60 in Hindman, near Knott County Park.
Police say the driver dropped off the right shoulder of the road and hit a ditch.

Jody Sims with Kentucky state police says, “He was pulling a flat bed trailer that had a dump truck on it and when the jack-knife occurred, I think that along with the impact with the guard rail is what caused the puncture to the fuel tank.”

Police say the spill was contained to the roadway. The driver of the truck was the only reported injury.

The wreck that you were talking about wasn't at the same place as this wreck. It was on the other side of the parking lot at the Hindman Promart, closer to the Knott County Central entrance. The diesel fuel spill was not the cause of the wreck.

The driver sacrificed his truck and his health, unknowingly what could happen to him, to not hit the other vehicles. He did everything possible to miss them. If he wasn't such a good driver, the wreck could have been a lot worse.

this was highly dangerous, very slick conditions and at least 12 other vehicles spinned out of control, one with a pregnant woman that went on to hospital. Another man cut his lip on a soda can while he was drinking it and hit the slick area...very dangerous.
