Some Martin County sixth graders are getting brand new Dell computers as part of a "Computers For Kids" program.
Connect Kentucky and the Appalachian Regional Commission are working together to give children across Kentucky better access to technology.
Officials say the new computers will help prepare students at Warfield and Inez Middle Schools for the future.
“Well when kids keep up with technology then their going to be more career oriented, they're going to have opportunities to compete in different jobs, different careers that any other kids would be left behind,” Warfield Middle School Principal, Robbie Fletcher, said.
The computers are expected to arrive in a couple of weeks.
Officials say the program will help more than 1,500 students across the state.
