Election Day is just a few short days away and the candidates for U.S. Senate are campaigning hard to get votes in eastern Kentucky.

One of them was in the mountains Thursday.

Republican incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell is in eastern Kentucky right now.

One of his stops included the Big Sandy Regional Airport in Floyd County.

Senator McConnell made stops in London and Hazard, where he drew large crowds of supporters.

He's asking those supporters to work hard in the next few days to ensure he's re-elected next Tuesday.

McConnell says he has the momentum.

“We're surging, have a bigger lead than we had earlier and heading toward the finish line in first place,” McConnell said.

McConnell is expected back in eastern Kentucky this weekend.

Democratic challenger Bruce Lunsford was in Louisville Thursday, but is making a stop in eastern Kentucky soon with Hillary Clinton.

Wow Hillary Clinton coming to E. Kentucky with Bruce. This is great, I would say she is fine lady. I know that she talks like a person that nows the ropes. This will be a asset to Lunsford in his win over McConnell. Maybe I've been a little bit harsh with McConnell these past few months. But it's just about over, and I'am sure Bruce can pull out the win. Here in Knott Co. Lunsford will win, There will be a group that banded togather in 06' to elect the.... well I need not talk about that, it's not needful. But that bunch will not support Lunsford. But anyway I'am voting for Lunsford and I feel he will be our next United States Senator.

I don't thank McConnell has anything to gain by coming to Eastern Kentucky. He has never done anything for the people here. Hal Rogers told him we were easy and stupid and would go for anything. I don't thank that is true. My family and i are all repu blicans, we will all cast a vote for the first time in our life's, to the orther side. We're not happy about it. Thanks MITCH.
