40,000 energy related jobs created within 17 years and Kentucky will be a national leader in production and conservation. That is according to what Governor Steve Beshear is calling Kentucky's first ever comprehensive energy plan.

The governor announced the new initiatives Thursday in Frankfort, including more efficiency in homes, buildings, and transportation.

Beshear also says Kentucky needs to explore the possibility of nuclear power and use agriculture to develop motor fuels.

"Our goal is to derive 12% of our motor fuels demand, about 775,000,000 gallons a year, by 2025."

Governor Beshear also says Kentucky should take more advantage of its coal industry, for both energy and fuel needs.
