A fight between newlyweds ends in a deadly shooting.

Police say Joshua Mock shot and killed his wife, Linda, early Thursday morning in the Maytown community of Floyd County.

Neighbors say Joshua and Linda Mock just got married last weekend.

Joshua Mock told me he shot in self-defense, but police believe he intentionally killed her.

Now investigators are trying to figure out why, while neighbors deal with the shock of what happened.

Neighbors say Joshua and Linda Mock married last week and moved into their new home to start their lives together.

Now a few days later, Linda Mock is dead and her husband is charged with her murder.

“I'm surprised something like this would happen on Thanksgiving, such a tragedy,” Paul Patton said.

Police say the two got into a fight and it ended with Joshua Mock shooting Linda in the neck, killing her.

Neighbors on Dogwood Heights Street say they did not hear the fight or the gunshots.

Friends say the couple never showed any signs of trouble before.

On his way to jail, 26 year old Joshua Mock admitted he shot his wife, but he told us he shot her in self-defense.

Police say evidence and a witness shows he intentionally shot her.

Investigators are still trying to figure out why.

“Details are sketchy. It's unfortunate it's gone this serious to a point where firearms were used and this young lady's lost her life,” Mike Goble, Kentucky State Police, said.

Now friends are mourning 28 year old Linda Mock's death.

Neighbors do not know how the romance turned bad.

No bond is set yet for Joshua Mock.

He is being held in the Floyd County Detention Center.

Police sent Linda Mock's body to Frankfort for an autopsy.

who knows whos to blame?we dont! i can say i doubt a man needed to shoot a woman , very small woman in order to save himself! a man can always over power a woman . if he needed to save himself from her why couldnt he do somethin different than shooting her?why was he just standing around with a loaded gun? for the hell of it? come on he had it out for a reason.dont play stupid , maybe he didnt mean to kill her but he did mean harm to her and his actions did.
