Many economists predict a drop in sales this holiday shopping season, but local store managers are reporting record high sales for Black Friday.

From the moment the doors opened until the evening hours, shoppers are going store to store looking for the best deals, and store managers report this is one of their best Black Fridays ever.

As soon as the doors opened in the pre-dawn hours, shoppers piled in stores, and store employees piled on discounts.

“It's when you get all the good deals. You got to get it when you can, you know,” Anthony Roberts said.

People lined a sidewalk in Hazard to buy a cell phone for one cent.

Wal-Mart's parking lot could not hold all the cars.

J. C. Penney's ran out of 700 free ornaments within two hours.

Store managers report thousands of shoppers and thousands of dollars worth of sales.

Some store managers say they have already more than doubled the amount of sales compared to Black Friday last year.

They say the money saved makes it worth it too.

Store managers hope it stays this busy throughout the holiday season.

Well Duh, we now have finally elected a president who will turn this economy around and just to think Kentuckians were foolish enough to vote for more of the same is beyond me.

O.K. lets look at the facts after Obama stareted naming a top notch economic team last week alone the stock market rose 17% good reason for a positive black Friday--and the best is yet to come considering where the republicans left us.

Black Friday is not sinister. It is referring to the fact that store will actually make money (Black) as opposed to losing money (Red). Are you even smart enough to operate a computer?

I hope this helps our economy, but at the same time the recent death of a Walmart worker in New York was tragic........Maybe it would be safer if stores offered discounts for more than one morning, a longer period of time, so, people don't feel pressure to get the discounts in just one morning, one day.....?

sure store managers are saying the black friday sale went better than expected... look at the man who got killed and the people who got hurt... maybe stores should be blamed for that and the money they made should pay the bills for thoses who got hurt during this..

Black Friday sounds sinister and dark, I dont like the name sounds like Stephen King novel can we not come up with a better name for this shoppers day?
