Many economists predict a drop in sales this holiday shopping season, but local store managers are reporting record high sales for Black Friday.

From the moment the doors opened until the evening hours, shoppers are going store to store looking for the best deals, and store managers report this is one of their best Black Fridays ever.

As soon as the doors opened in the pre-dawn hours, shoppers piled in stores, and store employees piled on discounts.

“It's when you get all the good deals. You got to get it when you can, you know,” Anthony Roberts said.

People lined a sidewalk in Hazard to buy a cell phone for one cent.

Wal-Mart's parking lot could not hold all the cars.

J. C. Penney's ran out of 700 free ornaments within two hours.

Store managers report thousands of shoppers and thousands of dollars worth of sales.

Some store managers say they have already more than doubled the amount of sales compared to Black Friday last year.

They say the money saved makes it worth it too.

Store managers hope it stays this busy throughout the holiday season.
