Many drivers in Eastern Kentucky say it's hard to resist those extra trips these days, with gas much cheaper than it was just a couple of months ago.

Gas prices here in Hazard are near the $1.80. That is compared to the beginning of October, when gas was pushing $4.00 for a gallon of unleaded.

Drivers say they are hitting the road more often and police are taking notice.

"I'm driving a lot. A lot more than last year and back in July," said Walt Stidham.

"We believe that those two things coincided. we had noticed an increase in traffic when we saw a decrease in gas prices," said Trooper Tony Watts.

And because of that, state police are seeing more and more accidents in our area.

They say they best way to avoid a crash is to slow down and give yourself more time to get to your destination.

Deb, you should complain to Childers Oil, I'm sure they will lower the price immediately.

I just came back from Indianna and the gas there is 1.43 to 1.53 per gallon! We are still paying 1.74 to 1.86 for gas here in Eastern Ky and its bull! I am an American citizen and I want EQUAL RIGHTS! Gas Should be the SAME PRICE IN ALL AMERICAN STATES!
