Transportation departments across the region say roads are covered with snow. Crews are out in all counties to remove snow from the highways.

Numerous wrecks have been reported across the area due to the slick road conditions. Motorists are urged not to travel unless it is an emergency.

If you don't need to go out then don't! Roads are very slick and the back roads are bad! Stay Home!

First off I would like to say that I DO have a very good education and I know how to type and use punctutation in sentences at a very high level. Secondly, I agree with you on the governors stand on education in KY. Find other areas to cut. We pay school taxes out the ying yang now as it is and I personally would LOVE to know where that money is going? One place is NOT the teachers/aides pockets. Finally, as far as missing school goes, you go if you wish on icy, snowing, slick roads. I prefer to stay home and keep my child home with me. The backroads in a huge part of the county do not get treated therefore they are VERY slick for automobile travel. There is NO way they could pay me enough to take a bus on a road (very narrow, not 2 lanes) to get over 30 children to endanger their lives. So, with that being said, you take yourself right on to school on snow days, get out some books, educate whom ever decides to show up but leave the rest of the county out of it!

all it takes is 1 bus wreck to kill several families dreams. I wish people could remember the bus crash that kill 27 people and the dreams of many others. I admit we need to fund the school systems but not endanger our kids lives. You can comment on how i write etc. but leave this state along be a teacher and teach more than books what about value of life.

That sure is a lot of snow we got out there, I swear I went out and just rolled around a few times in the snow, and then my parents yelled at me and said quit getting muddy. But oh well we got out of school.

What did you do? Get out of the wrong side of the bed!

Posted by: Rachel on Dec 12, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Jackson County wasn't even part of the advisory last night and didn't get put on the winter weather warning until after it was about down snowing here. We ended getting around 5 or 6 inches of snow with and inch of slushy ice under it.

All I can say is there seems to be quite a few illiterate people posting on here. Check your spelling and grammar; it is horrendous! By the way, grammar is not the person married to grandpa. What a backwards state we have here. A little bit of snow and nobody wants to attend school plus a Governor who wants to cut back on education due to lack of money. There are other things to cut back on Governor but you must leave funding for education as a "hands off" item. It did snow yesterday; in the form of a snow job by the Governor as well as that white stuff. Go to school you bunch of illiterate people!

You obviously need to go to school to learn to use capitalization at the beginning of a sentence, and to use only one punctuation mark at the end of a sentence.

Already in Owsley County, about 1/2 mile from Lee Co and Owsley Line, no where near high elevation, we already have a little over 4 inches and if the snow is to start tappering at 6am, then we will have well over the warning! Frosty is on his way! Hooray for a white Christmas!

I hope it snows. But I still want to go to school. I Love School. I dread making up all the finals and getting them in on time because of all the missed days. Besides i don't want it to effect our summer vacation cause the more school we miss the longer we have to go.

Posted by: marybeth Location: pineville on Dec 11, 2008 at 04:33 PM

This is what happens when you build your house in the creek.

Posted by: Jim Location: Jackson on Dec 11, 2008 at 02:16 PM
This is good we need the rain and it will wash away the trash that this bunch of mis-fits throw in the creeks.
