Old System To Blame For Water Intake Problems

A boil water advisory is lifted for some people in Breathitt County.
Customers in Clayhole, Lost Creek and those who live along Highway 476 still need to boil water.
The Kentucky Division of Water is testing samples.
Officials say the intake system was not upgraded when the new water treatment plant was built a few years ago.
The fire department was called in Tuesday to help unclog it again.
"By bringing hoses and pushing a high pressure of water through to force debris from the intake. Unfortunately, with the continued flow of the river, it just clogs up again," said Allison Fleck with the division of water.
State water officials says this is a chronic problem during this time of year.
City officials say the situation is under control.
