Christmas is still a few days away, but the man known as Santa Claus to many in Harlan County was out delivering gifts to many children.

This Santa's Workshop is located in the Wallins Creek area of Harlan County, where the gifts are stacked high, and people are working around the clock to make sure they get Christmas to as many families as they can.

For more than 30 years the man known across Harlan County as Mountain Santa, is at it again.

“A lot of them holler, and say here comes Santa Claus, and they holler, some of them scream, and some of them cry. It's a real joy,” Mike Howard said.

It's almost just as much of a joy for parents.

“It's wonderful man. We enjoy bringing the kids out and seeing them having a good time,” Anthony Bargo said.

Many of these kids may have wondered if they would even get anything for Christmas this year.

Soon they realize they are getting something thanks to the Mountain Santa and his volunteers.

“The kids get their presents and just start opening them in the dirt. It's amazing,” Howard said.

Mike Howard and his crew will be at it for several more hours tonight, tomorrow, and again on Christmas Eve.

Many people from not just Harlan County, but all over the region donate gifts and volunteer to help make Mike Howard's gift giveaway possible.

Being a voulenteer is not just to know your helping someone but to see theyre face when it happens. i voulenteer at the christian life fellowship church at harold and its great...every 3rd friday of the month we give out boxes of food and christmas time we have old and new clothes and toys for people...and have a wrapped present for children to open.
