Ten thousand dollars worth of free computers were delivered to one eastern Kentucky town Tuesday.
The six computers are free to use inside the new Wheelwright Library in Floyd County.
An ARC grant and Connect Kentucky paid for them.
The goal is to help those in the community who do not have a computer or internet access at home.
Librarians believe it can help children with their homework and help adults either study for GED's or apply for jobs.
New computers are also coming to libraries in Minnie and Prestonsburg, and several Floyd County schools.

I agree. I am the librarian here in Wheelwright and to me what we try to accomplish here is not just bringing literature to a town that needs it but bringing a sense of pride in one's self and one's community. Wheelwright was once a great and beautiful place and it has long been thought that the past cannot repeat but I think different. I feel we can turn this town around, and if we can do it other towns can do the same.

I was very surprised to see these comments after I posted mine. I like to blog like the rest of you, but some people just do not like change, period. And you wonder why people like diane sawyer come to our backyard and ask these questions. nobody is looking for a handout, but we are looking for a hand up. we want to empower ourselves and stories like these are good and inspiring. to "big jerk" and "eastern ky" ... why do you associate leanring and computers with drugs and illegal activities. leave those stereotype behind and start embracing what is going on. or better yet, get out there and do something about it. the best way you can change yourself sometimes is to change what is around you. that is the best teacher of all ... life. so make sure you live it. i welcome comments. this is a free country.

To Andy...you got that right about Obama. He IS trying to help this bunch of ungrateful people every way he knows how. I know your post was sarcastic about him so that is why I am responding. In my opinion if it is humanly possible he will save us from past admin. or whatever the reason our country is in such bad economic shape. Re-post your thoughts after you are convinced he is helping, even helping those morons that don't deserve it, because HE IS and I am thankful for him.
